Country Music Festival

The Country Music Festival was created for an undergraduate course. In my digital imaging course, we were instructed to create an event poster for an annual event taking place in Omaha Nebraska. From the  assignment prompt, I decided on a country music festival. To sell this idea, I limited the color palette to 3 main colors, yellow, orange, and brown. I also added in a base and cowboy hat to help emphasize that this is a country music festival rather than a general music festival. I believe that this piece was successful because I managed to achieve a balance between the decorative elements within the piece and the info required to be read by an observer.
When I first started on this piece, I had two main ideas. I had the idea of having the sun start setting for nightfall behind a mountain, and I had the same concept for the other idea, except it would set behind a bar. I ended up choosing the first idea as I thought it had a lot of potential, so I went and created the initial piece, and while it needed work, it was better than I expected.
After thinking about what I didi with this piece initially, there were some things I needed to iron out. Specifically, I needed to rearrange the main text and Add shadows to the base and Hat respectively. The result of this was very shocking to me as I didn't really think minor changes like that would help a piece so much. Also, I created two different versions of the piece, with both being up to personal preference.
