MALAY ARCHIPELAGO

PJKITA Art Lane PJ State
 Petaling Jaya, Malaysia.
Shadow play or "Wayang Kulit" is a traditional theater that has flourished for centuries in the oral context of societies of the Malay Archipelago.

Wayang kulit is a unique form of storytelling employing light and shadow with one 'Dalang' or Master puppeteer who tells romantic tales, especially adaptations of the classic Indian epics, the Mahabharata and the Ramayana. Some plays were depicted from local secular myths and legends.
This installation is initiated to expose this piece of art form that is the Wayang Kulit to the younger generation in the hopes of bridging the gap.
