Venus Flower Basket
Euplectella aspergillum
this project aims to create an installation art inspired from an under water creature, Euplectella aspergillum, commonly called as Venus flower basket. This creature is gifted to new married couples in Japan as a wedding gift as a symbol of eternal love. What inspired me was the story behind the gifting.

Euplectella aspergillum is a type of glass sponge that shows mutualism with shrimps. it has been observed that they mostly house two breeding shrimps in their glass lattice structure, who are not able to escape through it on later stage due to their size. these shrimps mate and live around in the sponge, till the death do them apart.
Material used - Zari cords, Paper Mache, thin steel wires, thermocol sheets, sandpaper, , cutter, MDF board, rotating motor, charging adapter, switch, yarns, colors, paint brushes.
Final Installation
