Sagrada Familia

I took these pictures in 2017 in Barcelona at La Sagrada Familia, the crowning (and unfinished) of Spanish modernist architect Antonin Gaudí I typically see images of the cathedral that focus on the building as a whole, but close inspection reveals the multifaceted nature of the building, which employs a wide range of (at times disparate) styles and expressions to tell the story of Jesus through architecture. Thus, I chose to focus on the wide ranges of design elements in the building, from the more traditional sculptures to the apostles -- replete with fine detail down to the tendons of the hands -- to  the blocky, almost roughshod depiction of the centurion at calvary, to the unorthodox rendering of the Annunciation, nestled among a whirlwind of abstract organic shapes.
