Zine Critique: Tell-Tale

Zine Critique: Tell-Tale
For my process on creating my zine, one of my first sketches was a heart roasting over a fire. I went in depth with this idea and used it as the reoccurring topic for all the illustrations. I made an effort to keep them love-related or gory in some way to stay within the theme of hearts and Halloween. I chose the color blue for the heart because I thought it would be interesting to see it as a color opposite of what you usually see it as. The title, "tell-tale" is a reference to Edgar Allan Poe's short story, "The Tell-Tale Heart".
As you can see, the semi-realistic blue heart and contrast highlighted text is in every design. I used the same exact outline of the heart and kept the captions brief. In building a pattern with these, I created unity.
