Every winter University of Iowa's President Sally Mason sends an electronic greeting to much of the University community. Rather than the traditional e-card route we developed a concept that would engage the recipient and build some Hawkeye spirit at the same time. I designed a paper snowflake with a repeating collegiate "I" pattern that could be downloaded, printed, crafted, then shared with the community. To promote the concept and enhance the fun we recruited Iowa's mascot "Herky the Hawk" to cut out his own larger-than-life snowflake which we recorded and shared on YouTube.
