Starting with a sketch and rough outline, I filled in the shapes and approximate colors. These owls are loosely based on Short-eared Owls, Asio flammeus, but I did not try too hard to strive for any sort of anatomical accuracy.
Making further progress on the coloring of the feathers and the body's shading is starting to take shape
