The goal of this piece was to learn to crosshatch. It is so easy to start scribbling with this medium. The background was actually quite a challenge for me. I had trouble deciding how dark I wanted it to be. Eventually, I went with a completely dark background. I was able to keep the background interesting by crosshatching in patches of parallel lines.
