Why Do Hyena's Laugh?
Genre: Ethnographic Documentary Film

Synopsis: Are your friends really that funny, or do you just perceive them to be as such? Laughter is believed to have its origins in rough and tumble play, evolving from the panting behavior of our primate ancestors (when tickled, chimpanzees and gorillas pant.) It tends to occur in short bursts of vowel like sounds such as "ha–ha," "ho–ho," or "he–he," which are repeated every fifth of a second. Humor and laughter can be quite subjective in many cultures and dependent on the people that partake in laughing with you. From the inside jokes (jokes that are caused through an experience) to universal humor that catches a vast audience. Be a part of this award-winning documentary by director and producer Vanessa Diaz, that takes the audience behind the scenes to understand the sociological glimpse at why we laugh and what really causes our endorphins to react to our environment in such a manner.
