Design Narrative:
This presentation exhibits ten architectural models, solely designed using ASCII - American Standard Code for Information Interchange characters.
This abstract project was designed for the American Institute of Architects East Bay, Design Awards 2022 for the unbuild idea design category by student submission.
ASCII Digital Design MecCA aka ADDM is an unbuild idea design for a new school of arts, design & technology to be open in 2025.
ADDM aims to be a futuristic multi-disciplinary media arts school, built on the fundamental principle of ASCII as the building blocks of the design language.
The ten architectural models in this presentation share the same fundamental design principle - of two transparent- identical cubes that merge one into the other using glass over metal frames.
This architectural model of two merging identical cubes is consistent throughout the entire design of the ten models.
Moreover, the ten buildings share the same visual design language & architectural elements repetition.
The ideal location for the ASCII Digital Design MecCA will be in the Berkeley Water Front.
ASCII Digital Design Museum was born on Facebook in 2012.
In the past ten years, utilising Facebook’s HTML walls (simple text field) more than 10,000 designs were created using simple ASCII characters, in real-time on www.

In the past ten years, ASCII Digital Design Museum’s design books, fashion, multimedia art installations were exhibited worldwide in Europe, Asia & USA.
The inspiration to establish a physical location for ASCII research center came from many followers request for an applied design study of ASCII symbols for design & arts.
The ASCII Digital Design MecCA: will be divided it into ten different research areas study of Art, Architecture, Communication, Design, Fashion, Library, Media, Music, Research & Museum.
