TARA - Second Night of Transcendent Knowledge.

In the Hindu Mahavidyas there are ten aspects of the Great Goddess. Kali is the first and the second is Tara. The name means 'Star". She is identical to the Tibetan deity, though her aspect is very different. She appears almost identical to Kali, wrathful, naked, protruding tongue. She has blue hair woven with red snakes. She represents the desire of all things to return to the Source, hence one of her names : Hungry Star.
