This work in a Vinyl installation that I created for Typography, displaying a crossword puzzle. My idea to do the crossword piece developed because I wanted to highlight how everyone spends so much time hiding and trying to blend into the crowd; we aren’t encouraged to stand out, like we should be. I used a crossword puzzle because crossword puzzles do the same thing: they hide and blend all the words together and they don’t stand out until we work hard to search for them, just like people. So the words in there are ‘blend in’, ‘all the same’, ‘invisible,’ ‘alike,’ ‘similar,’ among others. I did the ‘stand out’ in red to show that people are initially attracted to the things/people who stand out, and it shouldn't be discouraged.
