Activist posters
Tasked with investigating contemporary social issues within South Africa, I used the traditionally activist poster format to make a stand - shining light on pressing matters that may otherwise go unconsidered.
Childline South Africa poster
This Childline SA poster was made out of paper cutouts and then digitally edited by adding text and illustrations. In this poster, the adults are giants making it difficult for the child to reach out to them. The telephone, which represents the Childline, is there for the child when the child needs attention and care.
Gender-based violence poster
This abstract social poster was inspired by a report about gender-based violence in South Africa. The lines and dots are morse codes that were used to communicate during the war. The black blotches are to show the bruises from the physical abuse that the women goes through. Not everyone understands the morse code so there is text above it for people to understand the message which reads: "One in five partnered women has experienced physical violence by a partner".
