The poster below is a design by M. Koerner in which he stressed individuals to save their cooking fats and donate them in order to produce bombs for combat. I was interested in the aspect of civilian participation in war and the repercussions of such actions. The patterned sides of these postcards were a reference to luncheon mats which center the conversation within the dining room / kitchen table. On the reverse side, I juxtaposed war photography with the words of W.H. Auden's September 1st 1939 in order to create a stronger narrative of skepticism and drama. The collection as a whole has a particular order; however, the cards can be organized in different permutations to create new narratives and meanings.
