2022 marks 20 years' worth of collaborative explorations between Yohji Yamamoto and adidas.
Part of Y-3 20 years anniversary "20 Years: Re-Coded" 3rd chapter begins with reintroducing Y-3's intepretation of one of adidas' most iconic trainers - Gazelle. An adidas classic, through the lens of Y-3.
The famed Gazelle is reimagined wrapped in suede for a clean, premium look, creating a new modern classic - Y-3 Gazelle. Additional foxing tape circles the entire outsole, which slightly curves on the lateral side for a subtle, yet distinctive accent. Heavy tumbled leather on the outsole highlights Y-3's high attention to detail. Additionally, it features a gold foil Yohji Yamamoto wordmark along the stripes referencing the original Gazelle.

Update for SS2023:
There's just no stopping or even slowing down Y-3. Coming off a sizable Fall/Winter 2022 delivery, the partnership is already in Spring/Summer 2023 mode with a fresh batch of sneakers.
First up is adidas and Yohji Yamamoto's SS23 Gazelles, which emerge in a familiar tonal look. Seriously, it looks almost identical to the duo's AW22 iteration, minus a few subtle changes. On the latest Gazelle, you'll notice an emphasis on stitching, evident in the Three-Stripes realized in embroidery and the loose threads hanging throughout the upper. The design concept nods to the Japanese sashiko, a traditional sewing style used to not only create decorative patterns but repair apparel or cloths.
Whereas some sewing techniques are meant to be concealed, sashiko, which means "little stabs," is purposely made visible to emphasize functionality and style — two words that also sum up the essence of Y-3.
Aside from the stitching, Y-3's Gazelles preserve most of its AW22 details like the suede construction, stealthy aesthetic, and Y-3 branded heel tab.The recognizable Yohji Yamamoto branding also strikes the upper again, this time in a silver coating. /h
