TEXIM - loving legs

TEXIM (http://www.texim.be) designs and produces leg fashion for the European market.  In 2013, Texim asked the students Productdesign and Packagedesign to use their creativity to design a new packaging for tights.
Field research
To find out what was wrong with the currect package designs, we visited a few stores. We noticed a lot of packages were broke or damaged. Except for the fact this is not pleasing to the eye, it could also tear or damage the panty. Also, many packages were not attractive at all and the graphic design often didn't provide enough information about the panty (size/denier).

Tests and research
To determine the most suited shape, there have been some tests. The ladies in the group carried a mock up and a current used package in their handbags for one week. At the end of the week, the results were very clear - the cylinder mock up was not damaged at all and gave the most protection to the tights.

Ideation
Because of its favorable properties we decided to use the cylinder shape. There were several designs created. For example, the shape of the cilinder could communicatie the type of panty (slim-fit).
Final design
Eventually we decided to go for common cylindrical shape. This was most appealing to us and moreover, this is the easiest for graphic prints. The graphic design should be attractive and informative. This was done by properly tuning the colors and highlight the most important information.
