How to Pick the Right Projector for Your Viewing Needs

A projector, or image projector, is an optical device that creates an image (or moving images) on a surface using a lens on a projection screen. Projectors are used for a variety of purposes besides watching movies, like playing games on a big screen, creating murals on walls, spending quality time with your children, cooking, redecorating your home, or even projecting artwork on walls. But when it comes to choosing the right projector for your needs, people often get confused.

Types of projectors: DLP, LCD, or Liquid-Crystal on Silicon (LCoS) are three major types of projectors.

DLP (Digital Light Processing) -  DLP projectors have more mirrors, and thus more pixels to project your desired images and videos in high definition and 3D. DLP projectors are of two types: single-chip and three-chip versions. Single-chip versions start at under $1,000, while three-chip models start at around $10,000.

LCD- LCD projectors tend to be less expensive. The images are sharp and focused, making the projector great for movies, particularly in larger environments. However, they also require more maintenance and upkeep, particularly with changing out filters and preventing dust buildup. The LCD projectors are common amongst business meetings, seminars, workshops but LCD can fail fast and replacements are very expensive. 

LCoS- LCoS stands for Liquid Crystal Technology on Silicon. It is a hybrid between DLP and LCD. So far, the lightest projector made with LCoS technology to date weighs 12 lbs. So these projectors are neither portable, nor compact.

Projectors on rent : all the above-listed projectors have some pros and cons. But the only thing that is common to all of them is the cost of purchase and maintenance. So if you want to pick the right projector, it's important to actually use them before purchasing. And you can do it by renting it out. If you are very selective in terms of electronic gadgets, you can now easily take projectors on rent as hiring is very popular in projectors. You can benefit from affordability, no need for extra maintenance, flexibility in choosing a variety of projectors for a specific duration, etc.
