Frog on the Snail

A fun project I started that was inspired by a friend who was a fan of frogs and snails. I decided to take it to another level and try to turn this meme into a reality using a 3d printer. My approach was to use existing CAD models as inspiration to build elements of the sculpture: the snail, the slug, and the frog. In order to meet the unique anatomical requirements of the source material, all the original CAD models had to be modified extensively.
Preliminary CAD model
I decided to use the strengths of a 3d printer by using colored filament to imitate the aesthetic of a roman sculpture. I used marbled filament with a very fine layer height to achieve a high amount of detail. To create a even smoother finish, I used 3d Gloop. A chemical smoothing agent to give the sculpture a semi-gloss finish.
Sculptures are great, but as an artist I love making things that are unique and has never existed. How does one do this?

Where would one put this? -maybe on a night stand near a bed

What does one do in the bed? - thats up to you

I decided to push the design and make the frog detachable from the snail to provide storage for some sensual bedroom goodies. Nothing will beat the reaction of someone seeing this while preparing for the bedroom ritual.

Lots of failed prints. The geometry is incredibly organic and needed lots of support material
