Twilight on Mount Charlotte

Mount Charlotte—a small, unremarkable knoll on a bend in the road leading north out of Kalgoorlie. A fist full of gold was found close by in 1893 unearthing one of the richest deposits on the planet. Today, twilight out the back of Mount Charlotte paints a nostalgic light. These are the gritty, dusty, often destitute landscapes of human endeavour that epitomise a boundless search for gold. But with climate change nipping at our heels are these vistas of a soon-to-be bygone industry? Or if we lack fortitude are we looking at the twilight of humanity?
