I was diagnosed with #adhd four years ago. The diagnosis helped, and it explained a lot of my behaviour to me. It also gave me some tools to manage the disorder. However, I am still in somewhat denial about my diagnosis .Having a lifelong condition that can't be cured is not an easy thing to accept. As I talk to others about my diagnosis, I've noticed that mental health is a very stigmatised subject. People still look at mental health as if it was some dark shadow crawling in the psychiatric asylum.

Therefore, thousands of people go undiagnosed, struggling with their symptoms alone without any help from a professional. And even when they get diagnosed they still try to battle their condition instead of accepting it. But what if we change the narrative? What if we turn something stigmatised into something precious? Something that people would be proud to own?

For those struggling to come to terms with their disorders, I designed a DSM-5 jewellery collection. Since ADHD is something I am very familiar with, I will start with it and then move on to other disorders: major depressive disorder, OCD, bipolar disorder, etc.

The badge is made of silver and white enamel. It is 90% done as you can see that the D latter is not finished. Quite a common thing with ADHD is not finishing things. The words “speed” and “chaos” in my opinion. DSM-5 stands for: The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition. It's the book that classifies all mental disorders using common language and criteria.

Stay tuned for future updates.
