Second project during sixth semester – team project for redevelopment of old Belgrade Shipyard (designed with Anja Nedeljković and Andrea Kikanović)
Site of old Belgrade Shipyard has for years been neglected due to many reasons (mainly lack of funds and complicated ownership relations). Situated in brutalist New Belgrade, mainly close to Sava blocks 70 and 70A as well as block 19A, it was clear that the new urban matrix will have to rely on and honour this historic surrounding. Logic of those blocks was translated and adapted in the context of the shipyard. Early into the design, value of river and inherited infrastructure was recognized. Life on and close to the water was of great importance. Existing marina was redeveloped while the lagoon was given a recreation purpose with resilient city as its main concept. Along with green-blue infrastructure to connect it even more with the river. Also, New Belgrade’s existing tradition of green spaces was enhanced giving this redevelopment a green city concept as well.
