Nadia Cavner's profile

Ways to Help Refugees from Syria and Iraq

A Springfield, Missouri resident, Nadia Cavner is an experienced businesswoman and entrepreneur. After retiring from her professional business career, Nadia turned her focus to philanthropic endeavors and has become one of America’s premier philanthropists, supporting charities and organizations around the globe. One such organization that is close to her heart is the Assyrian Church of the East Relief Organization, ACERO.

ACERO is a non-profit organization that aims to aid Assyrian people in need. They provide assistance to Assyrians who are displaced from their homes, those who are facing serious illness, and others suffering in the aftermath of natural disasters. They also work to provide stability to families in their communities by providing financial relief, support for housing, and various pressing needs. Dedicated to transparency, ACERO donates 100 percent of all the -funds it obtains in fundraisers and openly shares this information to the world, revealing every action and event they host to gather many people to support this cause.

On 29th December 2021, ACERO hosted its Christmas program, which included a liturgical service for the displaced families that live in Turkey because of the troubles present in their native country. This event offered children and parents the chance to celebrate the Christmas season and all of the joys that accompany the holiday. During the program and service, ACERO presented Christmas gifts to more than 100 children who participated. With the help of the organization's volunteers, over 300 families received food vouchers and parcels for the holiday.

While the Assyrian people continue to face numerous challenges in their day-to-day life, this was one opportunity for the work of ACERO to impact and bring relief to the lives of many. Nadia hopes to see ACERO support and serve even more families in need throughout 2022 and the coming holiday season.
