City Neue — Branding for a Travel Journalism Website

City Neue, a place for modern journalists to share information on city design from all around the world! Topics include infrastructure, architecture, urban planning, and public transit. These ideas might be boring to some, but the City Neue reader knows that these are essential aspects of every day life, and can not afford to be overlooked.

Although City Neue remains a fictional website, care and consideration was taken with its branding. The use of arrows and Helvetica allude to airport and public transit wayfinding. Grids are used to organize troves of information, just like they are used to create order in densely populated cities. In addition, a high contrast, monochromatic palette allows for words -- and stories -- to remain the focus throughout the reading experience.

"The City Neue audience is a global citizen. Believers that borders are to be questioned, not accepted. At the top of their game they speak at least three languages, and after a night of partying, they can maybe speak one more. Travel is to be used as a means of connection. New world views are precious, and always to be carefully considered."
