On 1977, one year before the 1978's FIFA WC in Argentina, it was designed as the most iconic match ball in the history of this sport. This modern triangular graphic was used and adapted in different ways until the 2002's World Cup in Japan.

Gotán is an adaptation 45 years after its creation where the classic Tango is clashing and re-visited with the innovation and speed of Al Rihla.

To make this new version, it has been used the classic Tango shape and was re-coded with the brand filter of Speed, found in Al Rihla (speed shell). The result was a new look and feel for this iconic ball ready to be used in 2022.

Gotán, the naming.
Inside the Rioplatense Spanish it's found the Lunfardo language. This slang is well known for changing the order of the syllables to generate a new way of speaking. Tango in Lunfardo is also known as Gotán. Then the classic name was re-coded as well.

Regarding the graphic language, all the Tango balls contain different ways of information as design. In the case of Gotán we took those details and re-visited them with the new adidas graphic direction.

About the wordmark, we used the same typeface as Al Rihla but italics. This detail makes Gotán unique from its graphic to its identity.
In the small silhouettes, we also told stories. We spoke about Tango and football in movement. Besides using the Sol de Mayo recoded we also included the best goal of the World cup made by a tango ball (Azteca) in 1986.
