For this assignment we were to build a 1/4 scale model of a previously designed chair. I chose to model Nakashima's Conoid Chair, because of its daring and iconic design.

 

I built the model mainly out of bass wood, and stained it to darken it so it may resemble to original more closely. I used 1/8th inch dowels for the spindles, hand shaping them so as to reproduce the hand shaped texturing on the original chairs.
