My idea focuses on the process of healing for a heavily injured dog. This idea is reinforced through the literal ascension, a ramp, beginning with the clinic, moving to the rehabilitation center, then the salon, and finally the dog park. This ascension not only represents the healing process, it also represents the idea of moving from isolation into public. The clinic is a highly isolated business, it is located at the bottom of the ramp and is also slipped underneath the rehabilitation center and the salon. Moving up the ramp, the rehabilitation follows. Although it is in a more public area, it is still somewhat covered by the salon. Both the salon and dogpark are the first to be viewed, making it a highly public area. The dog park is in fact more publicized because of its open space versus the salon which is a more private business. The purpose of the publicness of the salon and dog park is to attract both the owner and his or her dog. The ramp, which is connected to the dog park then pulls them down towards the bottom of the ramp. Above, The tenants only have a view of the ramp and dog park. The bridge that the tenants use is strategically placed to cover both the salon and rehabilitation center to give the businesses a sense of privacy. Located at the end of the Arcade are two stores. The stores are reserved for rather large stores (for example: the Apple Store) in order to give more of an attraction and bolder statement to the area.
