Design Sculpture - 3D studio

PROJECT #002
Design Sculpture - 3D studio
Objectives: Understanding form and function. • Understanding the 3D form and the use of materials • Understanding Material Aesthetics and joinery. • Application of elements and principles of design in a 3D form • Understanding the design process: How thoughts trigger our minds when we engage our self in an experience. How process leads to the final output. • Understanding curation
Material : Bleach board/Cardboard/Boxboard like you used in the crease games task. • BBQs sticks/match sticks, Glue/Elfie/ Gyms'/thread's/clay/plasticine/baking soda any of these joinery materials that suits you that we have used in our Skelton Structure task. • Colors; Gel pens, Poster Colors, Markers • Tools; Cutter, Scale, Plyers, Scissors, Drawing boards
Design Considerations :1. Use basic shapes and forms, circles, square, triangle 2. Start with the sketches on your sketchbook. 3. Keep it basic, take small steps at a time 4. Keep in mind the basic elements and principles of design. Rhythm, balance, scale, proportion, movement, modularity, texture, and repetition. 5. Explore the complexity, Explore the simplicity. 6. Can your form have a function? 7. How color can be applied to the final form or not needed at all? 8. Look into material quality and property, how it can be used? What does it allow? What it does not allow? 9. Are you forcing material or material is forcing you? How do materials behave when you try to use them? Make intelligent use of material qualities and understand its nature to have a harmonized solution. 10. What are materials aesthetics? Have you put them to use? 11. How joinery is part of a whole and can be used as an aesthetic element in a form. Make mistakes, take risks, experiment, and make use of elements and principles to create an experiential artwork.
