GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE LEAVES PSYCHOLOGICAL TRAUMA!

Gender-Based Violence causes psychological distress and can have psychological, behavioral, and physical implications for survivors of GBV. In 2021, crimes against women in South Africa revealed that one-fifth of women (21%) had suffered physical abuse at the hands of their relationships.

GBV is connected with increased sadness, anxiety, poorer self-esteem, and less social support. GBV survivors' mental health is impacted by psychological repercussions such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety, drug abuse, self-harm, suicidal conduct, and sleep difficulties.

This social poster I have designed is designed to give a voice to women that can’t speak up about their psychological trauma caused by GBV. The big woman’s head is open to showcase the psychological trauma, the small woman is to showcase the big woman that can't speak out bout their trauma, and the flowers that are dying represent the effects of GBV (anxiety, depression, self-harm ct.) on women. The big hand represents GBV and physical violence by a partner.
