Specimen / Erik Spikermann

Erik Spiekermann is author, information architect, type designer. The specimen describes the FF META font, its characteristics and uses.
The font was commissioned in 1984 by the Deutsche Bundespost, which redesigned a neutral, space-saving typeface that could be read if printed on a very small stamp but also suitable for use on mailboxes and trucks. Spiekermann opted for a legible and humanistic character. Despite this, the Deutsche Bundespost decided not to implement the typeface, so in 1991 Spiekermann issued it himself. According to the designer, FF Meta had to be a "complete antithesis of Helvetica" (the modern typeface par excellence), which he found "boring and bland".
Thank's for whatching :)
