Nowadays, the issue of appearance anxiety affects women's physical and mental health as well as their normal social life. In this project, I tell the life story of two female protagonists who suffer from confusion and torture in order to achieve beauty through digital comic strips, showing the manifestations and causes of appearance anxiety among Chinese women in the late Qing Dynasty and contemporary China. This project explores the truth about the 'beauty' of women's appearance and aims to make women aware of the misguided perception of body image by the male gaze, consumerism, advertising marketing and social media.
