“Polyhead,” which is a compound word created from “polygon” and “head,” I investigated the issue of technology and human behavior. People depend more and more on their digital gadgets and even start to worship them. Moreover, while sharing information, each person becomes a totem who answers others’ requests. Thus, I installed a big screen that detects the faces of audience members and switches them to polygonal models. Watching their Polyhead, audiences can think about their identity as a responsive media totem. For this project, I used Autodesk Maya to design polygonal models and Processing to create a face-detection program.
And this shows how the interaction works
Based on this coordinates, the program calculates relative coordinates of vertex. According to them, black lines, which imply the "Network", connects each Polyhead
Here is a part of screenshots automatically saved by the interaction program.
