Once The Glory Of Assam
The Hindustan Paper Corporation (HPC) mill was established in
1973 at Jagiroad in Morigaon district, Assam. This mill was
suddenly ordered to shutdown its production on 13th of March
2017, something which never happened in its 44 years of history.
The days followed with protests by the families of the officers and
employees of the mill, who were fighting for the revival of it. It has
been 5 years now and their fight is still stuck somewhere in the
courtroom. The only thing which has changed is that now they just
hope to receive what they were promised, what they deserve
more than just the revival of the mill.
"Once The Glory Of Assam" is a multimedia documentary project on this
community associated with this mill, their current lifestyle and
landscape of this mill. This project is also one of my Design Project at National Institute of Design.
This documentary project consists a photo series and a video as final outcome.
