Compact PC Speakers
CL16 are a pair of PC speakers that can be hung from most tabletops via a detachable clip. The speakers themselves are smaller than most PC speakers, which means they don’t take up as much space, even when placed on the table.

The internal components (the drivers and the crossover network) have been taken from a pair of brand new Logitech speakers. Even though CL16’s boxes have nothing to do with Logitech’s design, they have been designed with respect to the dimensions of the internal elements.
The design of CL16 features a detachable clip. The initial idea was to create a set of clips for different circumstances. This would give the speakers a certain flexibility when it comes to hanging options.

The speakers are compact yet powerful. Their volumesque form allows for good bass tone reproduction. As you may have noticed, the box has a lot of edges. This is, in fact, more functional than aesthetic. Curved surfaces are more resistant to vibrations and signifanctly more rigid than flat surfaces.

The box was originally designed for plastic injection, so if one day the speakers were to be mass produced, the boxes would be made from ABS plastic. ABS plastic offers a good balance of impact resistance, dimensional stability, tensile strength, surface hardness, and rigidity. It’s important to note that several modifications had to be made to the box, so that everything fit inside it. There is a narrow hole on the bottom of the back part, for instance, that was left on purpose, so the cables could go through it. The crossover network boards did not have the same screw holes, so an additional support structure had to be printed out. And since the board with the volume knob and the earphone plug was located on the side panel of the original box, further modifications had to be made to the internal structure of the speakers.
