Film Revival Spread

Film Revival: From the Brink to Beloved
As part of the UNC Chapel Hill Magazine Design Capstone course, our class created a magazine based around culture nostalgia. I made a magazine spread dedicated to the recent popularity and revival of film photography, brought on by modern waves of nostalgia. Created with Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop.
The header image features a Pentax K1000 film camera alongside a model cut and folded from developed film. I built the model and photographed it alongside my own Pentax K1000, then used Adobe Photoshop to combine the images and apply a monochromatic color wash to fit the design of the overall magazine.
The process of creating the "film camera" required taping together developed film into 8.5x11in sheets, which where then cut into fitted shapes and combined together. The resulting model was roughly 75% the size of the original K1000, so the final image composition and physical flaws were fixed in Photoshop.
