I spent my wintersession in Italy absorbing all of what Torino, Milan, and Florence had to offer. For this course we were to explore our thought/ design process and create a shoe from the inspirations we gathered. My shoe came to reflect contrasting lighting elements, the refractive qualities of crystal, elegant luminous forms and intricate lanterns, as well as the inherent delicacy and beauty of these objects.  I found the nature of all of these mesmerising; the way they could control ambiance, even in the most subtle of ways.

The following are a few photos I took of  what I found the most captivating as well as having the most influence on the aesthetic of my shoe. I chose Rosewood, glass, and wire in the final design in hopes they would give the shoe a sense of constrast in its delicacy and transparency.
