2019 IHDCYH Talks Short Film: Neonatal Resuscitation

Sometimes when babies are born they may need help breathing this is called Neonatal Resuscitation. In this short film we wanted to show some of the research that is being done with cognitive task analysis and serious games to improve the training of healthcare providers who care for these babies.
The video was filmed at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta with
CSAR: Research 4 Babies https://www.research4babies.org/
and Retain Medical Labs https://www.retainlabsmedical.com/index.html
Special thank you to the patients and families who graciously offered to allow us to film them.
Along with Trina Bloemen & Thomas Jeffrey we were involved in all aspects of film production. From script writing, determining shots, filming, and editing. This was my first experience working on a short film and it was an incredible learning experience. Determining how to translate research and medical information into a short film to educate the public was the biggest design challenge but this extra thought and attention allowed for a concise and informative short film.
