A friend or family member's handwriting is comforting, distinctive and familiar, yet becomes acutely foreign when attempted by one's own hand. Through hand copying, scanning and screen printing my family's handwriting, the monotony of drawing and writing is replaced by the repetitive nature of silkscreening and patterned textile yardage.

My family's handwriting was studied using my birthday cards as a constant. Through copies and scans, I arrived at my final repeated patterns.
