For the first chair project, we had to use the bent lamination technique for the seat and back and then build a frame using either wood or metal. I decided to go for a friendly look using geometric shapes. For the seat and back, I created a simple curve using Solidworks and cutting that shape out on a foam board using the CNC machine. After cutting the curve out, I laminated four layers of 1/8 inch plywood. For the frame, I used three legs, making the back leg the widest to balance out the weight. To make the chair more comfortable, the back leg is cut at an angle to have an 'easy chair' form. The back leg is composed of two pieces of wood, which are connected by finger joints. The rest of the frame is connected using the domino cutter and inserting pieces of wood to fit the legs and stretchers together. After applying finish on both the frame and the seat and back parts, I screwed on the back and seat to the frame.
