Pantjoran Display Type
Glodok Chinatown has been a residential area of Chinese descent in West Jakarta since the Dutch colonial era in Indonesia. This design project will implement the vernacular form of the Glodok Chinatown shophouse in the medium of letters. In the design process, the data gathering phase is done online through literature study, visuals, and interviews. Once collected, the data will be analyzed visually then become the concept and basis for designing visual typefaces. The final result of the project is a Latin display type called 'Pantjoran' which will be divided into sans serif and serif types. Each font type will consist letters, numbers, symbols, and phonetic letters in Chinese. The final result of the designed type represent the vernacular form of the Glodok Chinatown shophouse area into a traditional and authentic form.
