"Thank You for Protecting California" was made from a deep gratitude to all of the firefighters who work to protect the Golden State from the wildfires that ravish our communities and environment every year. Although this was envisioned with CAL FIRE in mind, my gratitude extends to all of the firefighters who risk their lives to keep the state safe every year. 

I wanted to specifically express this gratitude by highlighting the vast amount of fires that firefighters have to tackle at once, especially during peak fire season. I also wanted to combine this concept with hand lettering that emulates the California spirit and, ultimately, feels specific to the Golden State firefighter experience. 

This gratitude was translated to a "thank you" card that could be shared not just amongst firefighters, but by those who share the same appreciation of their bravery and fortitude. Below is a comprehensive look at the process from first sketches to final touches.
