Past Istanbul to Modern

As you walk through the smokey city of Istanbul during the night you get a surreal feeling of mystery. Behind every corner is somthing unusuall, somthing vibrant and different. Consequently the city slowly captures and inspiries you to become truely fasinated and overwhelmed.

This photographic series was a personal favourite during my stay, a solid two days of being out of my comfort zone and in amoungst the busiest city in Turkey. The goverment here that lays across two continants has a desire to remove or should i say forget about the history, historic buildings, monumental fortresses of the past. This then lead me to my photography, my intentions were clear, to capture and portray the lights of the city, from trams, cars, buses, planes and even boats, to show the real modernised world against the sixteeth century abstract semetrical buildings, to contrast them both to of what is so beautifully ovbious.

Without history there would be no reccolection of the past, these magnificant buildings and people who help support the maintence of them needs to be kept alive.
