wïyakï (n) : Togetherness
It is a visual story that is trying to highlight the importance of cohabitation between the employee and the employer in a country that does not allow it. The main subject is an Ethiopian woman named Sheeto that has been living with four family members. Throughout the time spent together, every member has created such a valuable relationship with Sheeto that cannot be replaced. This project is not trying to neglect the Kafala system, but rather shed light on one experience that is defying it by focussing on the relationship shared between every subject. The house is a safe space where every person is stripped from their occupation and social status; for so, I wanted the book to be a reflection of mutuality and emotions.

The archived photographs add the touch of time and value in each visual that takes the viewer back to the root of the entire publication which is the reflection of the seven years Sheeto has spent with the family members.

The publication is split into four chapters according to each family member (that is visually represented with a different color) expressing their fondest memories shared with Sheeto throughout a course of seven years.

The foundation of each spread is simply the power of emotions. The treatment of images in relation to type is supposed to create a visual chaos that makes the viewer take a step back and feel the unclarity.
