monkeyZ - a Gorillaz tribute, is an actual tribute in music form to the British pop group Gorillaz, created by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett.

The process of the recording of the songs took 2 to 3 years to complete, since it was completely homemade and independent.

The songs are recreations of the songs focusing on analog instruments, staying away from the electronic and hip hop focus of the original songs.

A full release is planned for late 2022

Since this is a tribute, not a cover album per se, I tried to stay away from the recognizable Hewlett style, and focus on original interpretation of what the feeling, message and style the selected songs gives to me, making a total reinterpretation of those songs as illustrations.

The only exception being the front cover, which is totally based on the cover for their 5th studio album, The Now Now, but distancing from the figure of 2D, and bringing my image as the front man.

These illustrations were eventually applied in both the covers for the singles, the booklet lyrics artworks and the covers for the vinyls.

A phyisical version is still planned as a bonus for supporters and collaborators of the project, so artworks were created.

Both an LP and CD versions are planned.

The artwork was also planed to work in digital form for a selection of media players, from YouTube, to Spotify to Apple music.

For YouTube in special, all the singles and songs on them receives an animated video.
