The images above are from a recent trip to Portland, Oregon. I've never photographed waterfalls, or running water for that matter, as a long exposure composition. 

I learned a few valuable lessons here:
1. DO NOT forget to pack a tripod like I did. (Hey! Everyone makes mistakes, now let's move on)

2. A higher f-stop is needed for crystal clear photos of everything in the composition.

3. Filters make a world of difference.

4. I still need to work on editing photos with more than one dominant color in them. As you can probably tell, my river photos had green as the sole dominant color. These turned out better than the waterfall photos where green and brown-ish red colors dominated side-by-side.
