D U N E
Inspired by Byzantine painter Cimabue’s work and Matt Ferguson Dune piece, I wanted to come up with a poster for Dune, which starts filming it’s second part this July, that encapsulates the grandiose nature and influence of Paul Muad'dib on the Known Universe, but more importantly on Arrakis.
Depicted as a Holy Leader, his destiny is far more sinister and darker than meets the eye. On the left, his father Duke Leto of House Atreides in the shadows, prominently featuring their home planet of Caladan as the past, that they’ve left behind, while on the right is Chani, the mother of their child, Leto II, the future God Emperor and the planet of Giedi Prime that is also the base of Baron Harkonnen, who’s ties with the Atreides runs deeper then might be obvious.
