Backyard Zombie Productions Logo Variants

Last year Josh Fleming came to me with an idea for a logo for his YouTube channel, Backyard Zombie Productions. He had a very clear vision of what he wanted the logo to look like. After some back and forth with ideas I started to get to work. The first and main logo is the zombie head with the stop sign in its mouth. I wanted the logo to have simple shading to make it easier to read. So, I went with a cell shaded approach. However, when I got to the sign I wanted to make it stand out a bit and look super gritty. So I overlaid a lot of texture brush work to get the look.
For this next one Josh wanted to keep his old logo, but add in the helmet for a new drop for his channel merchandise. After receiving the references I went to work on fitting it around the original logo. I wanted to have it be mixed in terms of rendering. I used cell shading like I did for the zombie and then I added texture like I did for the sign. I felt as though this helped blend the helmet more organically into the original logo.
For the third iteration of the logo Josh wanted to go with a holiday merchandise drop. What better way to celebrate Christmas than with a zombie dressed as Santa! As I did with the helmet I mixed the cel shading with the texture brushes. I wanted to make it look as though the hat and beard were pulled out of a deep dumpster and had gone through a lot. So, I added extra dirt and color to really pull of that aesthetic.
Finally we have the deadite logo to act as one final variant for the logo. This one was a lot more of a quick addition. I changed the hue of the skin to match the Evil Dead version of a zombie. I also added some texture brush to the cheeks to make it look as though the veins and blood vessels showed like you can see in some of the deadite reference photos. I also added some purple under the eyes to finish the look along with some green ooze coming out of the mouth. Lastly, there was the sign where I needed to make it look like more spray paint was covering it. Also a large blood splatter on the right that I simply rendered using the round brush, airbrush, and watercolor brush in Clip Studio Paint.
