Introduction to the project
Goal: To create two aesthetically pleasing, interesting, and abstract compositions 6.75 x 8 inches tall.
Specifically, by using the fonts Neue Haas Grotesk Display Pro 75 Bold and Stempel Garamond LT Std Roman, my goal was to create individual black and white compositions for each. It must contain five to eight different glyphs (letters and numbers only) without repeating. There should be at least two black glyphs and two white glyphs; outlines are not allowed. Keeping these restrictions, as well as the principles of design, in mind my mission was to create two abstract compositions that are aesthetically pleasing to the eye as well as interesting to look at.
Composition 01: Neue Haas Grotesk Display Pro 75 Bold. A sans serif typeface. Consists of 9 elements, two black and 7 white. Utilizes principles of design such as contrast, scale, and overlapping.
Composition 02: Stempel Garamond LT STD Roman. A serif typeface. Consists of eight elements, three black and five white. Utilizes principles of design such as leading lines, focal point, and scale/scale contrast.
