A Sculpture 1 project focusing on the use of wood. As a challenge, I decided to make a ‘figure’ out of wood, one which towered over myself in height. Made from welded together rebar and plywood cover pieces, it stands upright while its arms are stretched out in gesture. Painted fully white with black to accent its divots and flaws, it is meant to invoke an unnerving yet inviting feeling. Later within the class I also created a miniature figure to match using wooden blocks and thin metal bars.
