KU | Experiential Design


KU is an exhibit dedicated to the works of horror mangaka, Junji Ito. KU gives fans the opportunity to admire, appreciate, and inspire by witnessing his works in an unforgettable horror experience. The target audience is both male and female between the ages of 20-40 who read his work or are horror fanatics. KU is GRUNGE, DARK, CASUAL, and ECCENTRIC to reflect the tone of Junji Ito’s manga works.

CONCEPTS


My goal was for the logo to embody KU’s tone of voice and to reflect Junji Ito’s art style. One idea was to include spirals, lines, and eyes. These are prominent features that fans instantly recognize from his most famous manga pieces. Leaving them out was not a choice in this matter.

When it came to designing KU's branding, I knew exactly what I wanted to go for. It was easy to create the branding after having created the logo. Everything fell into place. 

It was especially fun illustrating the pieces that would go on various branding material. When creating the invite design, I knew I had to make it movie ticket inspired. It's unique and hints towards the big movie screening of the event.
