I chose this photograph for vanitas because it demonstrates a contemporary still life with musical elements spanning the decades. A Crosley record player with the records to match, "Hawaiian Memories" hidden under the stacks. A ukulele, a blue yeti microphone, a cellular telephone. CD's, many CD's...in fact, do I see The Shaggs in there? Let's pop that into the CD player.
